Analytical Research
Highly qualified and experienced chemists of AAC division are involved in development of analytical protocols for qualitative and quantitative analysis of various metallurgical samples like ores, minerals, rocks, sediments, cements, metals and alloys using state-of-the-art instruments like IC-ICP-MS, XRF, ICP-OES, AAS, Spark emission spectrophotometer, Carbon & Sulphur analyzer, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen analyzer in metals. Some notable ongoing and completed projects are:
- Separation and quantification of different Arsenic species in water samples
- Quantification of Pb and Cd in paint samples available in Indian market
- Chemical analysis of geological samples in collaboration with Geological Survey of India
- Distribution of Rare Earth Elements (REE) in sediments and rocks of Indian origin
- Distribution of rare earth and trace elements in coal samples collected from different coal mines in India
- Chemical fractionation analysis for selective extraction of Lighter Rare Earth Elements (LREE) and Heavier Rare Earth Elements (HREE)
