Broad Asset Classes

A group of investments that exhibit similar risk and return characteristics, and respond in a similar fashion to economic and market events are grouped together as an asset class.

Every investment option is characterized by the risk, return and liquidity features inherent in it. The returns may be described as high or low, pre-defined or variable, stable or volatile, which depends upon the factors that affect the returns.

Investment products are primarily classified as financial assets and physical assets.
